FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What happens to the waste?

The waste is taken to our Waste Transfer Station in Westcott. We recycle over 99% of all waste collected.

How much can I put into the skip?

Our skips should be filled to the level line. Once level please call the Bucks Recycling office for collection. If the skip is overloaded it is a dangerous load and the driver can be stopped and fined by VOSA for transporting the skip on the public highway.

How big are the vehicles used to deliver the skips?

We mainly use 18 tonne skip lorries which are 9 foot wide and about 11 foot 6 inches high. We do have a couple of 7.5 tonne and a 10.5 tonne skip lorries which can be used for tighter access but are only capable of lifting light waste.

Can the skip be placed on a public highway (road)?

A permit is needed to place a skip on a road, pavement or verge, Bucks Recycling will obtain the permit from the County Council.

How long can I have the skip?

Skips should be ready for collection after 14 days of hire, however longer hire periods can be arranged at the time of booking.

What can I put into a skip?

You can put anything into our skips except the following - fridges, freezers, batteries, fuel tanks, tyres, paint tins, computer monitors, televisions, gas bottles, plasterboard or asbestos. We can arrange for these to be disposed of separately.
