Our recycled cardboard is sorted, baled and loaded into shipping containers. It is then exported to China, the world’s largest recycler of post-consumer cardboard.
Once the cardboard recycling arrives at the in China, water is applied to mulch it into a paste. A small amount of woodchip is also added to improve the strength of the new cardboard product.
Finally, the pulp enters a heating and pressing process to transform it into new sheets of usable cardboard for packaging and boxes.
Recycling one tonne of cardboard saves 390kWhs of electricity, enough to power a medium sized home for over 40 days!
